PRIM TAKES ON ZIM FEST 2018!

Zim fest was maaaaad!

Like every other Zim event I’ve been to so far, it was an eye-opening experience for me. So I thought, why not share my take on the event! Whether you religiously attend every year or you’ve never been to Zim fest, I’m sure you’ll find some of the information I’m going to share useful. Happy reading!
Don’t know if it had anything to do with the wine I’d drank an hour before, but the excitement just filled the air, it was a friendly, joyful atmosphere, positive vibes all around. That’s the first thing I noticed when I first set foot on the premises. The second thing I noticed is that my people really don’t know how to line up in single file- the queue was a long stretch of little groups huddled together, a fun alternative to a single file.
Kempton Park is an impressive venue, to say the least, and it was the perfect place to accommodate the masses of people that came through for this event. I personally didn’t run out of things to do the whole day. There were market stalls, Food stalls, bars, DJ tents and of course the main stage where an impressive line up was hosted. At some point, it rained hard and heavy but the fun didn’t stop, I can honestly say I had a good time and I’d go again in a heartbeat!

Highlights:
  • I caught a moment with talented upcoming singer Shanky (pictured)
  • The fact that I brought a jacket!
  • All the live acts I saw…. Takura, Shanky, Kazz, Xavier, Killer T and more, it was lit!

Downsides:
  • The wait for food. The struggle was too real!

My top tips to get the most out of your Zim fest experience:

  • PRE-ORDER YOUR FOOD!!!!! Food orders can be made online prior to the event if only I’d known…
  • Bring a little umbrella just in case!
  • Bring a jacket, you’re likely to stay well into the evening
  • Bring cash (the market stalls had lots of wonderful things to offer but not all the stalls took card)
  • Dress comfortably
  • Leave your stress at home! Make sure you have fun and socialise
